Innovate UK as part of UK Research and Innovation, is investing up to £191 million to fund both single and collaborative research and development projects via the Sustainable Innovation Fund over the next two years. The aim of these competitions is to help all sectors of the UK rebuild after the effects of COVID-19. Currently the Sustainable Innovation Fund is funding 1,103 projects, 1069 UK businesses and totalling over £130 million in support across the UK.
Airway Medical were recognised for their innovative work at the Medilink South West Healthcare Innovation Awards earlier this year. Their work is of course pertinent at a time when so many people are facing enormous adversity, battling C-19 and resulting respiratory challenges. For a small Start Up, this new funding boost will allow the company to establish themselves as a leading medical device innovator.
